When you go on a trip, whether it's to the other side of the world or to the next township, it's always important to take a first aid kit with you to deal with common medical emergencies.

Here’s a checklist of things to pack in your bag when you travel:

– Medicines you take regularly and a few extra just in case (allow 1 month extra), accompanied by your doctor’s prescription.

– Painkillers

– Antihistamines if you are prone to allergies

– Antacids

– Medication if you suffer from motion sickness

– Hydro-alcoholic gel

– Dressings for small wounds

– Antiseptic wipes to disinfect wounds

– Cortisone cream to relieve irritation

– Insect repellent

– Water purification tablets or straws

– Sun cream

– Several pairs of contact lenses if you wear them (with a small vial of contact lens liquid)
